About

My name is Bryan Johnson. I am a Christian scientist (not a Christian Scientist) and I have a few thoughts about how the Christian faith relates to science, some of which I hope to wring out of my brain by means of this blog. I was raised in the American evangelical tradition (Christian & Missionary Alliance and Evangelical Free) and a loving Christian home, two things for which I am extremely grateful. The faith in the Bible as the authoritative Word of God that was instilled in me from an early age has been a primary source of strength to me in a scientific culture that worships man’s reason. I was exposed to reformed theology and even stranger ideas in high school, and have been influenced by several reformed pastors and theologians since then; these influences have played a significant role in forming my outlook on the relationship between Christianity and science. After doing engineering for a few years, I received a doctorate in astrophysics in 2005 and am currently a staff scientist at a national laboratory in Livermore, CA. I have been greatly blessed with a lovely wife and four beautiful children, and having recently moved am currently looking for a church home. The last thing you should know about me is that I think about things for a long time, so don’t be surprised if I only post to this blog once in a blue moon. I’m not really the blogging type, but it seemed less daunting than writing a book.
